Thanks for sharing your comments, Frank.

The brutality enacted upon animals by some people is wholly inexcusable. I believe the instructions that God gave to Noah here prohibit such acts of wanton cruelty. I can see that you have a great passion for all living animals; I do too. It is unfortunate that more people do not have an awareness of the importance of treating all life with the dignity and respect that God endowed them with.

I believe that until we understand @ feel the sanctify @ God given right to all living creatures ,that they be cared for by us,@ not tortured @ butchered by us for pure delight of eating their flesh @ organs,@decorating ourselves with there skin @fur we will never really be the children of God.We will merely be what we have degenerated in to. Something far less than Gods other living creatures ,Some who only kill for survival @ not for profit @ pleasure. Log on to some internet sights @ view what Gods favorite beings perpetrate on the rest of Gods creatures.

This post is AWESOME! Mankind has been given dominion over the animals and this includes eating animals. We can also choose not to do so. People have, as you pointed out, made a religion or try to make it an obligation on all Christians.

If a Christian feels a moral obligation not to eat meat, then they shouldn't.

I would quote Romans 4:2-3 but you already did.

The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves. But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin. (Rom 14:22-23 ESV)

At most, all a Christian can argue is that we have a duty, as you pointed out, to the proper husbandry of animals. Let's not forget that Jesus ate meat. A lamb was slaughtered and eaten at Passover. If Jesus is eating meat, certainly as Christians we cannot claim that it is immoral or wrong to eat meat.

As a person who has a heart for animals, I can never ever use the Word of God to teach that Christians should not eat meat. The most I can do is point out that we have a duty to the humane treatment of animals because God commands us to treat animals humanely in their lives and when we take their lives for food or clothing.

This is is probably the best article I have ever read on this subject. Thank you for this most excellent post!!
